General Information

O/P-Toluene sulfonamide (OPTSA) is a toluene sulfonamide based reactive plasticizer used in Melamine laminates, Coating and Adhesives.


Description and Application

O/P-Toluene sulfonamide is a basic starting material in the preparation of melamine formaldehyde based resins for laminates. O/P-Toluene sulfonamide imparts post formability, improved gloss, impact resistance, reduced shrinkage and wrap of the hardened laminate.

O/P-Toluene sulfonamide can be used in high and low pressure melamine formaldehyde laminates, urea formaldehyde resins and as reactive plasticizer in epoxy and polyurethane based resins. In addition, systems reacted with O/P-Toluene sulfonamide show improved resistance to oils, solvents and moisture. O/P-Toluene sulfonamide has good thermal stability.
